The Empowered Whistleblower: A Practical and Spiritual Path to Personal Power
About the Author
In her new book, “The Empowered Whistleblower” Dawn shares her story of dealing with two years of horrific bullying for being a VA whistle-blower. Dawn resolved the matter with the VA and began her journey to empower others who have dis-empowerment in their lives, through coaching, consulting, speaking, writing and workshops. The traumas we face in our lives can disempower us OR we can overcome them and thrive! Dawn shares her raw and transparent story of going through childhood sexual molestation, bullying, an alcoholic marriage and landing in the Veterans Affairs Mental Health ward after two years of being the target of extreme bullying in the Veteran Affairs. In life, even negative experiences can be a “gift” in ugly wrapping paper if you can find the lesson or growth in each opportunity. Dawn blows the “whistle” on disempowerment in many of its forms and is now teaching others how to step up and “break their own chains” that hold them back from their personal power. Given the title, “Personal Power Coach” by other coaches, Dawn shares the lessons and wisdom of her story to teach others how to step into their own “personal power” so they can live happier and more empowered lives. Dawn has been featured in numerous radio and magazine interviews where she has shared empowerment strategies with others who want to have more joy and fulfillment in their own lives. The Concerned Veterans for America organization sent her to Washington D.C in April 2016 to educate Senators on the need to protect conscientious employees from workplace bullying. Dawn Marie Westmoreland has been lauded by the Christian Science Monitor for the work she is doing to empower others. In a recent interview with Lisa Suhay, Dawn was commended for turning a bad situation into something good for others, after she alerted the federal government to actions of her managers at the VA where she worked, alleging favoritism for hiring and training that advanced only select individuals. “The Empowered Whistleblower” is a story of struggle, trauma and triumph!

After reading The Empowered Whistleblower, I felt many of us could relate to the bad politics, workplace bullying we experience. Although I would have liked to have known more about the tricks upper management tried to utilize with the author (so as to educate others), I felt this book was inspiring. The author broke down the book into simple categories on how to take the next step into taking charge of your life, especially when it comes to being unhappy with work; however, her insight could be applied to any aspect in life.
